We believe that real development starts at local level. Increasingly, we are finding support for the idea that reliable local services and effective partnerships within local communities are crucial for stability, development and the quality of life of citizens worldwide.

Local authorities need skilled people to manage and deliver those services and to demonstrate leadership in community participation processes. The Hague Academy for Local Governance aims to develop the knowledge and skills of local government practitioners ánd professionals advising and cooperating with local authorities worldwide. We are convinced that our programmes respond to the fast growing need for training and skills development in the practice of local governance.
