Approach

In cooperation with municipalities and citizens’ organisations in various countries, we offer training programmes that are made by and for people involved in local governance. Our approach is characterised by an active participation in our training programs: seeing, doing, discussing and exchanging experiences.

Our programmes include:

• visits to projects and best practices and to private and public sector organisations that are specific for the practice and context of local government;
• improvement of skills by participating in role play, game simulations and interactive theatre;
• reflection on the impact of local government policies on local communities with the help of university professors and citizen experts;
• linking what has been learned to the daily practices in the participants’ home countries.

Sustainable results

Our experience is that this practical and active approach is much more effective and sustainable than traditional classroom training. As Confucius already said: “Tell me and I will forget. Show me and I will remember. Involve me and I will understand”.

We see participants going home inspired and motivated for the development process in their home country. Moreover, participants make contacts with colleagues from other countries that often continue to exist long after the training has ended.
